Hakusan Angel is a novel set in a futuristic setting that is a lot like Japan. The main characters are Kaede, a Level 1 Source, who is the source of power for the war machines in the military and Mariko, an ambitious pilot whose life goal is to pilot a Level 1 war machine. The only functioning war machine is called Hakusan.
There is a huge gap between expectations for sources and pilots, and it makes them clash on almost every occasion. Is there a solution to the rift between them? And even more importantly, is there a way to avoid open war with their hostile neighbour Morwe?
